Notice 18 hours of Continuing Education is required to renew your Real Estate Broker’s license

The Continuing Education requirement for each renewal period can be satisfied by successful completion of 18 hours of course work. Northwestern Business College offers Core and Elective courses as well as the mandatory broker management class. Our classes are offered as home study; the new broker management class includes a one hour question and answer session prior to the scheduled final exam.


Who must do Continuing Education

  • All Illinois Brokers licensed prior to May 1, 2006 must complete 12 hours of Continuing Education (6 hours Core AND 6 hours Elective). **

  • If you were licensed initially as an Illinois Broker between May 1, 2006 and April 30, 2007 you must complete 6 hours of Continuing Education (3 hours Core AND either 3 hours Core or 3 hours Elective). **

  • If you were licensed initially as an Illinois Broker after May 1, 2007, you are not required to complete Continuing Education during this renewal period. **

  • ** IN ADDITION, a 6 hour broker management class is now required. This is a mandatory classroom course (no home study allowed). All Illinois Brokers who need Continuing Education must complete their required hours by April 30, 2008.
